With the celebration and awareness of Earth day coming closer we have decided to make a few Earth Day treats to go with our recycling plans. It gave us an opportunity to chat about the current situations and what we could do to help.
We have two recipes that we spent a great fun day preparing and making our first one is our Earth Day cookies:
How to make Earth/world peace Day cookies:
You will need:
- 140g (5 oz) all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cornflour (cornstarch)
- 100g (3.5 oz) unsalted butter chopped
- 2 tablespons of soft brown sugar
- Icing sugar
- blue and green fondant icing
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C (350 F/Gas mark 4), line two baking trays with baking paper or grease the trays with butter. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and knead to form a dough.
With circular cutters, cut out some circle shapes from the dough. We managed 24 small circles.
Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes. Whilst the biscuits are baking roll out the green and blue fondant icing. Cut out blue circles with the cutter and green land shapes with a sharp knife. We printed out a free printable Earth from a google search and used that as a template.
To place the icing on to the cookie we mixed some icing sugar and water to make a paste to act as a glue.
These were so much fun to make. We can't wait to share them with our friends.
I enjoyed eating some, even though my wobbly tooth came out today!
Our second recipe for Earth day is HERE for Marshmallow fudge.

These would also be great to make when learning about the planets and you could make all the planets in our solar system! That would look incredibly awesome!
